John writes 22/9/10... Hi one and all. The day has finally come and I will retire from Kraft on 30 September 2010 after 20 years of private label coffee here in Cheltenham. I should have gone at the end of April, and then at the end of July, but I have such an important (sic) job that it has taken them this long to find a successor. The truth is that nobody wanted to do it, so HR went outside the business for someone on a short term contract whilst they sort out the closure of the Cheltenham offices in 2011 and move the business to Cadbury offices at either Bourneville or Uxbridge. Shame that I am so old as I may have been in line for redundancy and a pension. I have no idea what I will do next, other than all the jobs around our house and garden that have been neglected for too long and I’m sure Lynda is making a secret list of jobs that I haven’t even considered. However, that should keep me going for the next few years. As I’m leaving Kraft my email address will revert to home at jldbashford@aol.com Best wishes to all. |

I ran into Ken Knight (Sales) a couple of years ago in Farnborough. At that stage he had recently retired and was in good health, living locally. What happened to Mike Hammond? Sandy writes, 23/4/08...We hope that all the ex Soltenco employees are keeping well. Pat & I are still working on the B&B in Peterchurch. All the rooms are finished except for one which will end up being our bedroom. The outside grounds are slowly being developed to include a Jacuzzi and a small waterfall flowing into a fish pond. The Patio has now been completed on the left hand side of the rear garden but the right hand rear section still requires a lot of tidying up and a few wall/sheds to be built hopefully this summer when the weather gets better. The Front garden is now much better since we moved the pathway and rebuilt the well! Pat is working part time in the village for 16 hrs a week and I am helping around the house and garden in between assisting her with the running of the B&B. We have now purchased a lovely new two bedroomed ground floor maisonette in a place called Yalikavak near Bodrum in Turkey which will be completed in July this year. If anyone wishes to rent it out please give us a ring. We will be going over there in July to furnish it . Its only 250 metres from the beach in a quiet residential cul-de-sac which contains 7 detached dwellings ( Two Maisonettes) surrounding a large swimming pool. Please come down and visit us in the Golden Valley in Herefordshire. |

Don was HR Director of
Sol Tenco and then took up the same position at Lyons Tetley. Don writes 1/6/06: This web-site brought back so many memories! I was made redundant from Tetley in October 99 and shortly thereafter was appointed Group HR Director of a food ingredients company, which was essentially a management buy-out formed by some subsidiary companies from RHM and Hays PLC. The food ingredients business was sold to a trade buyer in 2005 and I now work as an independent consultant. As well as providing general HR consultancy, I specialize in management skills training for small/medium size businesses and career counseling and coaching for individuals. (If you feel you or your company could use my services, I will make sure you get a decent discount!) have moved to The Hague, Netherlands. Have just moved in and am sitting

quite proud of myself my dutch is non existent and bureaucracy
runs rife here so nothing is easy!! The
reason for the move is that Bruce has changed jobs and is now working
for Shell, part of the Six Sigma implementation team. Its an adventure
and very different, but Im sure we will both enjoy living in Holland
once we have settled in. The dutch are very friendly (if not very customer
focused!) and The Hague is a lovely, green, small city. For my part,
I am to become a part time lady of leisure. I will still be working
on the odd occasion for OMT in the UK, they have asked me to go back
to carry out Six Sigma training there for them. Apart from that I have
nothing planned as yet, but am sure I will be kept busy helping Bruce. |

I today received a Christmas card from her partner of many years, Len,
who confirmed that he had lost his Judy. I had kept in touch by the
yearly Christmas card. |

Andy and Megan are fine in NZ and occasionally catch up on the phone, but not as much as we should. Mum and Dad are good also, and middle brother is now working at Sony and married to Julie. Still living in Harrow, although relocation to Switzerland on the cards with Nestle in the coming year. Hope you are well, and let me know if you are up in the area, and sure we could arrange some way of getting a few people together?? |

I have been with them since I left Kraft and have spent the last five years in Vienna. I am about to relocate back to the UK. (I miss the traffic jams on the M25.) 13/9/10, Harry writes... Hello Sol-Tenco folk. Maisie and I had an invite to Pat Gilmour's 60th surprise party. We were away at the time so we made a DVD to be played on the day wishing Pat well etc; I said Pat was a youngster at 60!! I celebrated my 80th last week!!! Still able to get out and about and still fully involved with my amateur film making hobby. Maisie and I support the film competitions and over the past few years now go over to Guernsey for the Guernsey Lily Amateur Film Festival. I entered two short films and to my surprise received two commended certificates. I felt OLD the other day when my grandaughter drove up in her car!! My other grnandaughter has just passed her test and my first grandson,20, is on to his third car. THIRD CAR?? Do not ask!! I have five lovely grandchildren. I still hold village film shows and raised £1,200 for charity at the last one in April . Maisie and I are still able to keep the Scout Mini Bus on the road. Maisie bought a second hand one a few years ago and it has done sterling service and has brought a great deal of pleasure to many people. It is used by Scouts and others all year round. This is a VERY practical way of contributing to charity as you actually see every penny used. No admin charges. I am a Vice President,an honorary title, of the Charing History Society and a part of the photographic group. We are planning another public show of photos. After our last successful show we published a Pictorial History of Charing and had pr-orders for over five hundred copies of our 1,000 print run. Maisie and I have today returned from a weeks break in Somerset. As members of the National Trust we get to visit some lovely places. I record the social history of Charing on film and after 35 years I do have some archieve material. Getting old?? No I am too busy. I enjoyed every day I was with the Sol-Tenco gang. Regards to all who may take the trouble to read my ramblings. Harry Trill |

I well remember a few names on the list such as Max Foran, Tony Blackburn and my successor Andrew Brown. I left the UK in 1979 and returned to Australia where I worked for BP in HR for many years. In recent years I part-owned and managed a resort in the tropics here. I retired a few years ago, live in north Queensland and get back to the UK every now and then (but only in summer!). |

Worked as a packaging technologist reported to Chris Pomeroy/David Moulder and alongside Chris Stemman, Ain Khan, Harry Ovington, Ken Jones, Henry (the Pole whose name I never could spell) the warehouseman, and numerous others that I was proud to call my colleagues back then. Left ST to join LT then moved to Dairy Crest then to LT (all of 8 days!!) then onto Tesco where I spent 10 years thereafter worked as a consultant for 4 years before being lured back to full time work (haha) by an ex Tesco colleague at a company called 3663. | . |
